By way of registration Communities and Local Government collects basic information such as your name, job title, Email address and other relevant contact details. Communities and Local Government may also collect information about your interest in particular neighbourhood renewal themes.

Information may also be collected through voluntary online user surveys, and indirectly, through the renewal.net site access logs or cookies. The latter occurs automatically when you access the renewal.net site. Information thus obtained is used to enhance your visit to the renewal.net site. It does not identify you personally and Communities and Local Government does not collect sensitive personal data, such as your political or religious beliefs, ethnic background or sexual preference.

Why does Communities and Local Government collect this information and how does it use it?

The personal information that is obtained from you is used and/or held by us for maintaining our records and in order that we can communicate with you in the manner requested by you and in accordance with this policy. Communities and Local Government collects the information it does to provide you with a specific service. For example, it may use the information provided to send relevant updates of topics that may be of interest: Communities and Local Government also uses the information to respond to information requests.

Disclosure of personal information

Communities and Local Government will not pass on any personal data (as defined in the Data Protection Act 1998) collected from you via the renewal.net site to any third party (except our contractors providing the renewal.net service) or any other government department unless you grant or have granted permission or Communities and Local Government is required by law to do so.

You may gain access to the personal data that Communities and Local Government has collected about you via the renewal.net site by contacting feedback@renewal.net. We will charge a maximum of £10 per request to provide that data.

If, at any time, you no longer wish to receive material from renewal.net or you wish to change, update or remove all or any of your personal information, you may do so by following the instructions under 'correcting and updating your profile'.
